Auburn, Ala. –The Auburn Area Community Theatre (AACT) will present, “Spamalot,” a spin of the classic film comedy, “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” this coming August 2017. This production will be preceded by Monty Python themed events leading up to auditions on May 11, 2017.

The first of the events is a build your own dry-ice fog machine workshop. Please email tkelley@auburnact.org for a parts list. Following that, costume hacks for the perfect Ren-Faire garb are going to be shared at a workshop on April 17.

A props workshop for the show will be on May 2, giving anyone the opportunity to assist in building the Trojan Rabbit, Las Vegas Camelot, and many more Monty Python props.

Men and women over the age of 18 are encouraged to audition to fill the roles of King Arthur and the Knights, the Lady of the Lake, Tim the Enchanter and Not-Dead-Fred. No previous experience necessary; you probably already know the lines! Auditions will be on May 11, 2017 from 6 – 8 p.m. Please prepare 60 seconds of song, and be prepared to learn a short dance sequence for the audition.

Performances will be held at the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center on August 4, 5, 10, 11 and 12 at 7 p.m. as well as on August 6 and 13 at 2 p.m.
